It all began here in the upstate in a small mill village in Spartanburg. Growing up, my father was a paramedic and an electrician. We lived in a not-so-pretty neighborhood. To remedy this, our father would buy a home when it became available,e, and together, er, we would fix it up. He would, in turn, rent it out to a friend at work or whoever, but in most cases,s, it was a fellow first responder of some sort. Needless to say, it cleaned the neighborhood up in many ways. I was always in awe, at not only how a 100-year-old neglected mill home could be restored or even enhanced by the sweat of our brow, and in some cases, that was all. But also how everything around you changed if you just changed your environment. That stuck with me, and to this day, I still crave the labor of turning something no one wants into something everyone wants. There is so much history and character in those old homes, and in many cases, they would rival the strength of modern homes. Since I was a child, I joined the Marine Corps, serving overseas as a combat engineer. Though I made many memorable relationships and have stories to last a lifetime, I still came back to fixing homes. I can honestly say it is a passion that I enjoy.
